Rick has devoted his architectural career to the design of library facilities and leads StudioGC’s Library Team.
He is the author of “Designing Better Libraries” and “Managing Your Library Construction Project” and has spoken about the art and science of library design at for many local and national library audiences. Under his leadership as President of the Board of Trustees of Gail Borden Library in Elgin Gail Borden won the Institute of Museum and Library Services medal that is awarded to the five best libraries in North America.
Rick also sat on the Construction Grant Committee of the Illinois State Library and is currently on the Illinois Library Association Executive Board. Additionally, Rick was appointed by the Governor to represent Illinois libraries on the Illinois Local Government Consolidation Commission. As Senior Designer, Rick will be responsible for the development of your project’s design.
Passionate about libraries, Rick is re-inventing the ways in which libraries are planned, programmed and designed. He is redefining the ways that we think about libraries and how they serve their communities to ensure that libraries remain relevant as institutions. Lastly, Rick is known for his engaging and informative public presentations that are designed to build support for your project and to educate the public about what 21st century libraries can offer.
