As architects our lives are busy juggling work and family.  In our industry we deal with stress and anxiety on a regular basis.  If they’re getting the best of you, what do you do?  Me…I turn to yoga.  I’ve been practicing yoga on and off since my early twenties.  When I first started I didn’t see the benefits, but I continued to practice yoga anyways.  As I’ve gotten older, both mind and body, I have realized that maintaining a regular yoga practice is a great way to reduce my stress and anxiety, stay in shape, and calm and quiet my mind.  There is scientific evidence supporting the health benefits of yoga.

According to Mayo Clinic, yoga is a mind-body practice that combines stretching exercises, controlled breathing, and relaxation.  Yoga is considered a mind-body type of complementary and alternative medicine practice. It brings together physical and mental disciplines to achieve peacefulness of body and mind, helping you relax and manage stress and anxiety.  I know that there are numerous ways one can manage or reduce stress, but if you haven’t tried yoga, you might want to give it a try.  Ok, I have to put this disclaimer…if you have health concerns, you may want to talk to your doctor before starting.  Namaste!
